Weaving Threads: An Indigenous Engagement Program
As part of Finding Hope: Kids Help Phone’s Action Plan for Supporting First Nations, Inuit and Métis Young People, we’re creating a Canada-wide network of volunteer Champions and Ambassadors in Indigenous communities and urban centres to connect youth to resources and critical supports from Kids Help Phone and our partners.
Champions
Eligibility:
Indigenous people and settlers, 12 years and older, with strong connections to an Indigenous community or urban centre.
Responsibilities:
- connect Kids Help Phone with community resources
- promote Kids Help Phone’s programs, services and resources
- provide input on Kids Help Phone’s programs, services and outreach as required, via online polls
- connect with Kids Help Phone in times of community crisis for urgent support
Ambassadors
Eligibility:
Indigenous people and settlers, 16 years and older, with strong connections to an Indigenous community or urban centre.
Responsibilities:
- connect Kids Help Phone with community resources
- promote Kids Help Phone’s programs, services and resources
- provide input on Kids Help Phone’s programs, services and outreach as required, via online polls
- connect with Kids Help Phone in times of community crisis for urgent support
- participate in information booths at events
- act as a media representative (18 years and older)
- give community presentations
